On electric motors, what does it mean when they say "8 turn" "20 turn" so on.

that is the number of times the wire is wrapped around the armature. The lower the turn the faster the engine and more performance you will have. There are 3 categories for electric motors. Stock - 27 turn, Spec - mostly 19turn, and modified - anything lower. Stock motor technolofy has come a long way and although they are a pretty high turn, a good stock motor will probably be faster than a 20 turn RTR motor or lower quality motor.

Most RTR's will comes with either a 19 or 20 turn motor and overall they give you enough power and such to go out aand have a blast. Now if you throw in an 8 turn or a lower turn, you will notice a crazy difference in speed and torque and your car will easily be twice as fast as it was. Of course there is more to it than this. You have to make sure your ESC can handle down that low of a turn and you have to be aware of the maintenance factor. The brushes will wear down really quickly with the armature spinning that fast. You'll probably notice a power loss if you dont change your brushes at least every 5-8 runs.

Well thats the general jist of it. You can get alot more techinical with it but hopefully that will generally answer your question.
