I plan on buying a stock motor for my truck instead of buying a new E.S.C. and a cheap motor but i now want to spend less. Can anyone give me info on some of these stock motors.

540 = long run time.

:D

Seriously tho - I run a P2k2 in my T3 - seems pretty fast, and pretty good run times too.

I personaly love Epics stock motors The one I have works great and wasnt a ton of money (28 bucks). Heres a link to it at stormer hobbie's Epic stock motor (https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/seekpart.pl?pn=EP1102)

Call me going against the current but I think Fantom makes some pretty good motors (Going with the Race results that Fantom posts).

I'm into Nitro and I'm just going with What Fantom people sayabout Fantom.

fantom does a good job tuning there motors.

So far the most that has produced the most power for Big Jim is the P2k2, but the magnets are not as good as they should be, don't be suprised to be zapping them every so often compared to an MVP or Orion Stock motor.

If you want an all out race stock motor, pickup one for a good tuner. I would recommend Team Paradigm but I am having issues with them about there service that haven't been corrected yet. So far though the motor performs well and it was a reject model.

Team Paradigm (http://www.team-paradigm.com/)

You'll also want to keep an eye on this link. (http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=team_paradigm&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50) Occasionally they clear out motors on ebay. The same Pro motors as on their website but about 40% off.

Either RCCA or Xtreme did a test of the current line of Stock motors and as I remember it, the Reedy MVP was more of a torque based motor, which is perfect for short tracks such as ours. The Orions and Peaks were a balance of torque and RPM, where as the Trinity's were more based on RPM, the P2K had the most torque, the P2K2 had a little less and the Monster had the least. For RPM, the order was reversed where the Monster had the most. I'm going from memory here so I may be a little off but thats how I remember it.

The monster stock right now is one of the best stock motors. The motors that are available from paridigm are the same motors, but just tuned(softer brushes and different springs).

Ok, I know I want Team Paradigm's Monster Stock Motor.
New question. What would my runtime probably be with an Epic 3000 sport battery?
A 1500 battery?

Difficult to say, depends on how you gear the motor. If you gear for regular racing speeds on a medium sized track, then you could probably get as much as 7 minutes of runtime with a 3000mah pack(maybe a bit more, but it's hard to say), & maybe 4 minutes with a 1500mah battery(if you're lucky, & you'd probably have to gear it more conservatively to do so). Just think of battery mah numbers in relative terms, those number indicate how long a battery can run if a specific load is placed on them, so for example, if you placed a 1 amp load on a 3000mah pack, then it would run for 3 hours, or if you placed a 3 amp load on it, it'd run for 1 hour. And since 1500 is half of 3000, you should generally expect that a 1500mah battery would get around half the runtime that a 3000mah one would.....

It says on the tech notes at Towerhobbies it has a 12.5:1 gear ratio(final gear ratio?), it has the stock 17T pinion and stock 86T spur. It's a Kyosho Ultima ST Sports RTR.Oh yeah, can the spur gear be replaced? It doesn't look like the one at Towerhobbies(http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXTH54). I don't know but I think it has a slipper clutch because it has a spring against(blah, blah, blah).I can't even explain it
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX3446&P=Z
This is what squishes the spur via spring, except it is plastic.
I will start a new thread on this.

Just got my Team Paradigm motor back. They went ahead and sent me one of there all out racing motors via priority mail and the packaging was extremely better this time. Based on that I would recommend team paradigm.

I have run Reedy MVP's and Team Orion Core Stock RS motors. Both have heaps of torque and go very well. I definetly recommend either motor.

If you do get a Monster based motor, just make sure you get some help on the gearing. Since the motors are more RPMish, they can burn up.

I hear though that trinity's new line of motors that will be out will be much better, and hopefully more balanced since Big Jim is now a consultant for them.

Cianhanrahan,

What is the tamiya M-03(like link or part number)?
Same for the tamiya stock motors.
I would love to get those runtimes
