Here ya go folks... your weekly dose of ORCRC wheelin'

A good turnout of rigs today. Few were a bit late and missed out on the group photo. Quite a few trucks had the normal carnage, blowing diffs, snapping driveshafts, loosing servos, links falling off, tumbling down rocks, etc.. Fun day once again......

Now here are my first set of pictures, the crawling ones. Bashing and others bit later 8)

The early group of rigs....

Still floats even with the "pizza cutters"...

Little TLT crawler was at it for about 2-3 minutes with no luck.....

http://www.da-juggy.com/orcrc/2004/07-11/PICT4394.jpg

.... let some skid marks in the end :D

Down into the deep bottom pit... Tater-Tot can't move due to blown rear diff, Dan's crawler comes down to check it out only to have parts fall off when trying to get around the 'Tot...

http://www.da-juggy.com/orcrc/2004/07-11/PICT4418.jpg

... A Maxx comes down to try to get around the two downed rigs....

http://www.da-juggy.com/orcrc/2004/07-11/PICT4419.jpg

.... Only to get wedged into a hole off to the side....

http://www.da-juggy.com/orcrc/2004/07-11/PICT4421.jpg

...Send another one into help

http://www.da-juggy.com/orcrc/2004/07-11/PICT4423.jpg

Then all hell breaks loose and all the rigs nail the throttle just to beat on each other...

http://www.da-juggy.com/orcrc/2004/07-11/PICT4425.jpg

The 'Tot Tow Service call was made, and the dead TLT crawler was towed back to the parking lot...

http://www.da-juggy.com/orcrc/2004/07-11/PICT4431.jpg

Somethings missing... just not sure what quite yet

http://www.da-juggy.com/orcrc/2004/07-11/PICT4436.jpg

In the parking lot pulling wheelies...

http://www.da-juggy.com/orcrc/2004/07-11/PICT4441.jpg

Wheels too wide for the 'Tot... next is to narrow them down to 1" wide....

Looks like I missed a fair amount of action after I left. I had to get back to Hillsboro after my pack dumped so my wife and I could go golfing.

Have fun on your trip, Toyofast.

Have fun on your trip, Toyofast.

I will!!

Although I would like to take my crawler to play. There are just so many places that would be perfect for crawling...like this one spot:

The wife probably wouldn't be too happy if I dragged along the 'Tot :D

I guess this is the right place to ask.

What is the Best truck for crawling that is under $250?

How does the Mad force take to rock crawlin?

Wheels no... Tires yes. Took the Kongs from 4.5" wide down to 3" wide and made my own tread pattern kinda. The rims are now being narrowed to 1" wide.

Tires hook up on everything too. Way better than stock "V" tread pattern.

Best ruck under $250? Are you only going to spend $250 and not buy extras? Want RTR or one you can build-up later?

The best crawling truck is one you build yourself.... no production made kit can beat a homebuilt rig. The TXT-1 can come close with some help.

Mad Force no good....it's nitro. Twin Force makes for a decent/fun stock crawler. Few of the ORCRC guys have a couple of Twin Force projects being built currently. Probably have pictures and stats of those up in about 3 weeks.

I meant for the truck. I plan on buying extras.

I would build a crawler from scratch, but, I dont know where to start. I know I would need a tranny, axles, and I could probably fab a custom chassis.

What tranny and axles do you recomend?

Since you guys are the experts here  I would like to see if this setup would be good for crawling and some normal bashing. I plan on gettin a Twin Force, lock out the rear diff, fix the one-way bearing, put 2 more spider gears in the front diff and add some really heavy silicone oil. Add some universals to it, boil the arms coming off the axles to give it more flex, seal the axles with silicone sealant or something, maybe change to 540 motors so i can use one pack with some cheap (price) ESC, keep the servo on the chassis but improve the system, rear steer. I want it to be water proof all the way up to the chassis. Maybe some other things too but right now it is still in the thinking stage.
