3 friends and I were thinking about getting into the hobby. We saw the tamiya baja champ and liked it. I was wondering if anybody could give me a small review of this car, or any other helpful info.

yeah, the baja buggy is based on tamiya amazingly popular TL-01 chassis (this was the first touring car I owned) but you guys should look into the Tamiya Blitzer Beetle this is a good first car.

Check out the traxxas electric stampede. That monster has the speed and the durability that you need for a beginner. It was my first RC Car and trust me, you will be impressed. Sold for $159, Ready to Run with Radio. All you need are AA batteries, charger, and one 7.2 volt battery. Good Luck!

If you can't see my tail light, then you're ahead of me. :)

If you like the Baja there is also a Stadium truck version of it same TL-01 but a differnt body called the Stadium raider if you are interested. Get the Baja. Traxxas isnt as goodin my opinion.

i think the Stadium Blitzerd is a better bet even though its identical to the Blitzerd Beetle but with a much better looking truck body.

The first RC car that i got was a hand-me-down (GASP) from my uncle. It was a Tamiya Frog and ran pretty good. I did finally get a RC of my own (my money http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif ) and it was a DuraTrax Maximum ST. It is gas powered, takes a little bit of getting used to, but the sound and smell of a nitro car is one of the greatest things in this world. If you want a good one, i would get the DuraTrax Maximum ST. RCCA did a trash test on it in the April of 1999 issue, if you want me to i can scan the pages and send it to ya via e-mail, if that is legal. Dont want to have copyright people all over me. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
