I moved to a new area recently. As every RC'er knows, you become pretty good buddies with your local hobby shop. I ordered a part for my buggy on tuesday, and the young attendant goes.. "Come back friday and pick up your part.. 8x))))))"
Well today is friday. No part. LOL Like most of us, you drop by the hobby store on monday or tuesday, so that your car or truck will be good to go the following weekend. I spent thursday night calling up my buddies making sure our plans were arranged for a time and place to practice this weekend.
But now, i have no part. LOL
The thing that gets me is that my new local hobby store had no clue where my part is, or when it might show up. They didn't know if it was back ordered, or sitting in an igloo in alaska right now.
No-brainer, find someplace else to buy part. LOL
Thing is i dont like to buy by mail order, i like to keep my business local if possible. But right now all those wonderful mail order adds look sooooo sweet. The internet adds look sooooo convienent. hummmmmmmm whats a guy to do?

dig out your shotgun or semi-auto whatever the case. Go to the hobby shop. ring the newbie behind the counter's neck. flip the gun out of your trench coat... and ask for the manager. when he walks out and says "can I help you?" say "yeah, can you look down the barrel of this hear shotgun and tell me what the guage is?" then when (or if) he does say "now, a while back I ordered a part. you said it would be in but it isn't. what I want you to do is call your supplier RIGHT NOW not later and ask to see where the part is." and if the part isn't in by the next day blow'em away!

sounds like fun and all... LOL.. but i don't think they let ya run rc cars in prisons now days... (actually with the state of some of our "country club prisons".. they just might let ya) LMAO
b.t.w.-> problem solved... due to an add they placed in rcca... i called up the local hobby town store here in st louis and they had the part i needed in stock... and at half the price of the first store.... and the guy behind the counter at hobby town was superb... he knew his rc buggies and trucks inside and out...

hehe....I work in a hobby shop. I have no clue what those people do all day?!?! It's kind of hard to lose a part that sould be special ordered though.
If possible I would try and by from the local hobby shops though. After all. When you need some ball cups or tire glue right then it kind of stinks to have to send away for it. You might pay a little more at a hobby shop but there is always the convience of having it there.

That's my two cents worth,

Chazman

trust me if *cough* O.J. can get away with murder*cough* "oh, excuse me, had to clear my throat" http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/wink.gif. you can get away with brandishing a toy shotgun. and yes, you can have r/c cars in prison you just can't run them in the field(for the same reason you can have stationary, books and playing cards). don't even ask how i know this i've never been to jail so don't even ask.
