The guy at I think Stormer hobbies is telling me they are out of business and lately when I try to call Tekin no one answers. Do they have an e mail address cuz I looked all over there website for one but I couldn't find it.

Bob Stormer (the owner) NEVER said they were out of business.

He said their service was slow as of lately.

Tekin is still around, it just seems that their service and product quality has fallen off the deep end.

Well actually Bob Stormer at first did tell me they were out of business. I have a Rebel coming in the mail. Should I keep it or send it back when it comes. I dont want an ESC that I cant get service for.

My LHS pretty much talked me out of Tekin, due to exceptionally poor service lately.

If you're looking for something reversable, there's the Rooster and Super Rooster by Novak, plus Duratrax and Futaba stuff.

Personally, I think I'd spend a few dollars more for the Novak.

Tekin is still in business. The owner, Kevin Orton, does most of the service stuff himself, thats why the service is so slow.

I was told by my guys at the hobby shop that they were going out of business but not as of yet. They are still running but on thin ice so to speak. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/confused.gif

all i have to say is that i have been waiting on my tekin esc to get back from service since JUNE, and it's nearly impossible to get ANYONE to even answer the phone at Tekin (took me 3 days, calling 3 times per day, to hear a human voice there last week).........

they might still be open..... but their days are numbered.....

Tekin is still doing fine. And that is accoeding to his friend Big Jim (the guy who made the Paradox for Trinity).

So all the rumors and other stuff is all bunk.

If you want the REAL story and not just this pathietic rumor mill thread then go to www.about.com/rcvehicles (http://www.about.com/rcvehicles) . There Big Jim talks to everyone about everything.

By the way Kevin owns two Testarossas. So I don't think he's starving.

He's just let his whole end of the business slide for awhile, but has no plans to close the doors.

AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that's true. I'd hate to see Tekin go away. Product choice is a great thing for consumers, and Tekin has some great products. But as you can tell from this thread, numerous people are uncomfortable with the situation, and consumers vote with their $$'s.

A bad business reputation is a hard thing to overcome.

Unfortunately, if Tekin doesn't start stepping up to the plate of customer service the way Novak and LRP do, then they just might close their doors whether they want to or not!

I sent in a Tempest Pro to Novak because I thought it was damaged, about 4 days after I sent it in, I found out it was something else wrong with my car. I called Novak, told them the situation, they said they would be happy to ship the ESC back to me and they would pay for the return UPS charge. Not only did they do that, but they gave me a brand new still wrapped in the box Tempest Pro, the invoice said: "product replaced with new as courtesy to customer". The whole deal took less than 2 weeks from the time I pulled it out of my car to the day I got the new one at no charge to me.

Now if that isn't customer service, I don't know what is!

I am not going to keep the Rebel but I am going to get the new Futaba MC330CR that is rated to handle a 13T. I do not like Novak cuz there ESC's are overpriced and all of them are not really up to my standards except for their Competition controls. For what you pay and what you get I would expect nothing but the best top quality in their customer service at least.

Hpiguy can you please check the address of that link you posted cuz I didn't see what you were talking about. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Top End:

I agree wholeheartedly.

There is no excuse for this lack of service and quality.

10-04-2000, 08:17 PM
I don't think I will get that MC330CR cuz I a person at Tower said that it doesn't even have brake! Whats up with that. I hope she is misimformed and it does have brake or else I will just have to keep the Rebel and hope Tekin makes some improvements very fast in there service. Has anyone ever gutted the Rebel to install larger 12 gauge wire??????? cuz this is what I plan to do. Hpi guy can you please check that link you posted cuz I didn't see what you were talking about http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

10-05-2000, 03:52 PM
it has a brake i'm pretty sure it just doesn't have an adjustable one that lets the motor pulse.

10-05-2000, 03:57 PM
Distro do you have the Futaba MC330CR? EVen Futaba's website doesn't mention anything about a brake. The Rebel has 15 gauge wire. I plan to run a 13T. Would it be best to take the stock 15 gauge out and install 12 gauge cuz that is what I plan to do eventually.

10-05-2000, 05:51 PM
Actually the MC330CR doesn't even have a brake I called futaba at(217) 398-8970. You use reverse to stop. And it has reverse lock out for sanctioned races. I wonder how you stop with reverse locked out?????? I guess untill you hit something lol http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif I guess I will keep the Rebel when it comes.

10-05-2000, 06:32 PM
That link is to the main site of about.com for the R/C vehicles.

Once there just type Tekin into the search for the forums and it will come up.

10-05-2000, 06:55 PM
Well Kevin needs to do something like sell one of them Testarosas and get his business running and answer the phone.

10-05-2000, 09:01 PM
I saw those posts that you were talking about hpiguy. The ones toward the end were very reassuring that Tekin isn't gone. I hope Kevin gets some help so that everyone can get good service, because to me Tekin has some of the best ESC's for the price.

Well, though i had no probs with tekins service, the procucts themselves were a buch of crap, my rebel has fried 2 times, and it now sits lonely and unused in my garage, the first time it had no reason to go poof, but the second was my fault, i woudlnt dare running a 13 turn on that bad oscar, stupid thing barely handled my d4 14 quad, i replaced it with a fusion and it hasnt wimpered yet, i am planning on replacing it with the Atom, BTW, the only good tekin product is the 420G2, i mean, heck, 20 cells and any DUAL motor, that is a masterpiece, i would like to see the competition step up to that, and if people just say Super Rooster, i will ignore them, that is not competition.

10-09-2000, 04:34 PM
My Rebel runs perfect with the 13T Garnet I have in it. I plan to buy a 7 cell for more speed!! I changed all the connectors on my batts, chargers and esc to Acer connectors. Check them out at www.acerracing.com (http://www.acerracing.com)
