A real working tv and stereo!!!
http://www.streetsourcemag.com/uploads/Ownerprofiles/jancecustoms/6282006104927PM44461.jpg

This is my 1:6 scale remote control Lincoln Navigator. My friend and I have done everything that you can think of to this model and still be able to use it as a remote control car! A lot of people do not believe it is real but I take it to car shows with me and people get to see it. I have a few videos of it and I am working on some more. Here is one that I have.

TV video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU95_QkElr4)

I have more photos and information on it here Lincoln Navigator "IntimiGator" (http://www.jancecustoms.com/intimigator.html)

Let me know what you think! I want to see if I could get this on the cover of a RC magazine lol

That is awesome although you cant really watch it. But cool that you managed to do such a thing

Pretty cool, Jance. The only suggestion I'd make.. and this is actually a testament to your scale modelling skills.. is that in the videoclip, the viewer isn't exactly sure what they're looking at. The brain says "Meh, it's just someone filming the interior of their full-size ride" despite you directly describing "1:6 scale"

Reshoot the clip, but have the camera pull back to reveal the Scale SUV... even better if there was something like a soda can somewhere on the edge of the frame. Once viewers have something familiar they can get a sense of scale from, you'll elicit those "Whoooaaaaaa... duuuuude...." responses. ;)

Good job.

For a little more bass without giving up space, check eBay occasonally for anyone parting out a Toshiba Satellite 5205 series notebook. It was one of the few portables that used a palm-sized bass enclosure for a surprising amount of low-end.

Well being that small I didn't expect to watch it that much anyways lol. But if you get a good angle on it, it's actually pretty clear and viewable. It's an mp4 player so it is intended for viewing. Although I would not have bought it if I wanted a small video player. It's way to small and pointless lol.

CarterTG we actually tried to buy those speakers you are talking about. We looked on ebay for weeks and had to come up with something quick just to make a time deadline. The speakers I have came with a subwoofer but you could not tell it did anything. We had a perfect layout for it in the back but it wasn't going to work.

My camera takes video and it does not have zoom! My friend has a true video camera and I will see if I can use that for better shots. I wanted to get just a good clean shot of just the tv. You are right if someone doesn't know they are watching a model it looks real.

Here is a better "scale" video not the best, but better.

You Dr Pepper drinkers out there need some of the real stuff from Dublin Tx for late night R/C work. Pure sugar baby !! I have to drive about 20 miles to get it but its worth every mile :) Nice car I like to put in a lot of detail in my R/C's too.

Get the Security Man Mini-Airwatch cameras, mount one on the seat, shoot some footage of it driving around from inside. :D

Cover hell, RCCA should give you a full length feature article. This is the stuff this hobby's supposed to be about!

Was looking through the build photos, are you planning to do anything to upgrade the driving electronics, like separate the RX and use a real ESC instead of one of those proprietary boards? A brushless system would be pretty cool.

I have only one suggestion. LOSE THE DUBZ! :D j/k, s'poze it adds to the realism . . .

I have no idea what you are talking about on the ESC and stuff like that lol. This is my model I have ever built. I don't really drive it that much because I dont want anything to happen to it. Once I get a real video camera I will take a lot of video of it driving.

I want to put monitors in the headrest but I have a lot of money already in this and I'm not sure how I would go about hooking all the tvs up together with an rca cable, because mp4 players aren't meant to be ran like that.

You don't like the rims? They were spinners but I took them off because it made it look to cluttered plus I don't like spinners lol. I actually asked a custom billet place about making some new wheels when I talked to them at a show. He started to give me an answer and then I told him I was just kidding LOL.

On a serious note though, if anyone has any connections to a magazine that would put me on the cover, please send them my way. I know you shouldn't ask to be featured but I don't know anyone in the model toy industry. Thanks! I'm glad everyone likes it.

I do like that. This one right here is my favorite one. It's even the old paint job before all the body mods. http://www.jancecustoms.com/intimigator_build77.JPG

Look at this auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280003960569). DON'T BUY IT- that is way overpriced and is the one that has four cameras and receiver, but look at the little cams in there - you can get these with ONE cam and a receiver for around $30 -$40. They transmit video AND sound, in color. The way it works is you attach a 9 volt battery to the cam and put it in the car, then hook the reciever to a video camera OR VCR/DVD player and POOF you have remote video. :D I mount these in RC's and helicopters, search this board for "video" user rocknbil, you will find the posts with details.

You don't like the rims?
Nah they're fine, I don't go for the new-age thin-profile inch-off-the-ground look that is popular these days, they all look like Hot Wheels to me. :D But slick job.

If you look into high-end RC's here you will see receivers and ESC (Electronic Speed Controls) are generally separate units, which would enhance the model's performance - but if I were you, I'd make the stereo in the back functional instead. :D

It is functional! They do not work the tv. The tv did not have enough amps to push the tweeters so that is why the i-pod speakers where used. The tweeters play the fm radio and the mp3 player mounted above the speakers. The FM transmitter is stored under the model. We made a custom sliding door to get access to the transmitter.

Closed door (http://www.jancecustoms.com/intimigator_build13.JPG)

Whenever I modify something, I don't use "filler" parts just to make something look good. If it has a chance of working I will get it to work or I won't use it. I'll get video after this weekend of it all. I've got a car show i'm getting ready to leave for and I'll post a picture of my trophy when I get back lol.

In about a week I will redo my Navigator page with more pictures and information. Always a good idea to read more about it :D
