As posted in the original thread. Please email me the following information (if you haven't already done so). By sending this info we will consider it a fairly strong committment to attend.

I need everyone to send me an email to hadfield4@verizon.net with the following info:

your Zone name.
your real name.
address
email address
t-shirt size
the types of cars you intend to bring
hotel, camping or other (backseat of your car)
names of buddies you are bringing

Of course the Bash is still open for anyone! We are looking at a date of May 4, 5, 6. If you don't see your name on the list, you can still send me an email with your info. Ron and I are just trying to get an idea of who and how many will be coming

Thanks!
Chad

I have a van that will hold about 5 people and a crapload of RC's. Anybody in need of a ride (seriously) and your between me and harrison please let me know and I can probably stop and get ya. As long as I have room for my RC's I dont care what happens. This is on topic because its about getting people to the bash so I figured I would offer. PM me on it people!

That's not that bad. According to Mapquest, it'd be about 1700 miles and roughly 25 hours of driving for me to make it, and I'm still considering it. :)

Umm...ya...the drive across Wyoming and Nebraska on I-80 is a lot of things...but fun would not be a word I'd use to describe it. I'd definately need to install a satellite radio system in the Jeep for that trip, especially since I'd most likely be coming alone since my bro and friends who I'd invite would still be in school for the dates it's currently planned. And ya...at 15 mpg...I'd be using somewhere in the neighborhood of 225-250 gallons of gas for the trip. Talk about ouch. I want to come...and I think I'm going to try to make it...but I dunno. An 18 year old Jeep with 215,000+ miles on it doing a cross country trip? It would be an adventure!

hijacker
12-29-2006, 12:30 AM
metalry - for the amount of money you are looking at in gas, you could fly for much less!

If that is an option check out flying into Lansing Airport. We could arrange to pick you up.

metalry101
12-29-2006, 12:38 AM
Just looked it up. If I was willing to spend an entire day flying and waiting for transfers, I could fly round trip for around $350...but I'd have to mail my trucks out...which wouldn't be cheap since I plan on bringing at least 10. I kinda like the idea of a roadtrip...but that is a boring part of the country to drive through for the most part. I guess I could justify driving by combining this trip with a trip to Oklahoma and Texas to see all of my relatives that I haven't seen in years. Hmm...

I'm going to try to make it. This sounds like too much fun to miss, but we'll have to see what happens. Getting time off from work that time of year shouldn't be that hard I wouldn't think. Money is the bigger issue. I love to camp, so that will save me a ton of money on hotels...but I'm still looking at $600 or so in fuel...at current prices. That could easily rise several hundred dollars if someone at Opec has a bad day.

4DMNYC
12-29-2006, 09:26 AM
You could look into taking a bus. It'll cost way less, you can store all your rc stuff in the cargo area, and you can sleep. It'll be way cheaper than flying or driving. And you'll still be a top contender for the long haul prize *which is sweet ;)

hijacker

Buses suck, but trains are pretty cool. I know you can get on Amtrak really cheap and they have a depot right in the town I live in. It only costs $25 to go from Durand, MI to Chicago, IL. About a 5 hour drive by car. If anybody is thinking of flying or taking a bus or train, one option you might consider would be to ship your R/C gear to either Ron or myself, we'd make sure you got it at the Bash. ;) Yeah, sure we would!

Anyway, shipping your gear here is open to anybody. If you are low on cargo space or want to ride your Schwinn up here!

Awesome idea! I've never ridden an actual passenger train before. I've ridden a real train...but it was just a sight seeing one...maybe an hour long ride, and that was 15 years ago when I lived in TX. It'd be about the same money to ride the train as it would be for the cheapest flight I could find, but it'd be a little more of an adventure. Hmm...

But to be sure you receive a free t-shirt and Ron and I have made any accomodations for you that you will need, and that we have enough food and supplies for the BBQ, we would like to have people let us know they are coming.

Not too bad from Chicago area..maybe 325 miles...but my vacations are to TC area in July.

You guys familiar with the Walhalla area (West on 10) around the Pierre Marquette river? Really nice country if you are into the outdoors.

That drive should only take a few hours. You wouldn't have to take any vacation time. You could drive up that friday night. Sleep, then bash and eat BBQ and drive home in time for work Monday morning. ;)

okay guys!!!

here we go again!!! Few things to throw in there,....

look for some BIG prizes, possibly some "coverage" and even a 'celebrity' at the event!!!
I would love to see some big numbers here, so anyone who wants to come, get up with your buddies, grab a camp site, and have some fun!!!!!

remember, anyone who wishes to seek "alternate" travel, can always ship cars/trucks ahead, and myself, or hijacker, will see to it thay are in safe keeping.

Above all, we want this to be a good time, with good people, and great memories. Lots of group photos, video's, ect.

I know coming as far as some of you will, that the expenses are going to be a bit high, and i want to thank. To all who are coming already, cant wait to see ya, and welcome anyone who hasnt signed up yet!

There are a few local motels in the area, and we are going to try and get you guys discounted rates.....being a small town, this is possible. However, for those of you who would like to camp, get your reservations in!!!

thanks again to all attending!!

May cant come quick enough!!!!

Oh, and in its infant stages, heres a quick peek at the bash track

Okay guys...there are a few local motels, tons of camping places, and a beautiful state park/campground!

Wilson State Park is right on the lake, lots of camping, ect.

first choice for motels will be Lakeside motel....the Backstreet boys stayed there!!!

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

anyway, Lakeside has a couple cabins, ect...and rates are great. For instance, the cabins sleep up to 6, and run $73-92 a night.

What are the chances we can get these dates moved to a time that works better for students? I'm trying to turn this trip into cross country, 7,000 mile roadtrip and none of my friends can go because they're all still in school. Why not the middle of the summer? I really want to come to this event, but if I'm going to go 1700 miles one way, I might as well see some cool stuff out that way in addition to this event, and I don't want to do that alone.

I'll probably be leaving Pontiac at about 5-5:30pm to the 4th. I don't get out of work until 4 & work in Madison Heights.

I don't mind giving a ride, just have to realize it's my schedule (and my wifes) to keep.

I'll talk it over with my wife, but if anyone plans on tenting it, we could provide free space to do so with Bath houses to use & a fire pit to hang out by at night & some electricity to heat the tent if needed.

Tom, are you going to camp? I know I'll be using our camper, probably at the nearby state park.

tommckay
01-25-2007, 03:22 PM
I guess you could call it that..... I have a 30' trailer on my own lot in Cedar Shores campground about 5 miles East of town. But I can have tents on the property all I want & if none of the relatives are up there I'd have alot of extra space for them. Just thought it might be an idea for the more budget consious that were stretching the rubber band pretty tight to make it.

I'll be up there alot this summer so it ain't no thang for me! If z-man does open his own shop I'll have to be sure and bug him.

Wilson State park is a nice park with nice campsites, you'll like it.

Chad
Not beat a dead horse, or be an ass...but I mentioned in the first week of the thread that the dates were going to be a problem, and everyone ignored me. Then I asked directly a week and a half later if we could get the dates changed because they screw anyone who has anything to do with school. College students most likely can't come because that's even in the middle of the term, it's at the end, when a little thing called FINALS happen. Parents who want to make it a family trip instead of a personal trip can't come without their kids missing school. And work? It's a weekend. How many days do you guys have to take off? One? Maybe 2? If it's that hard to get 2 days off with 3+ months notice, you guys need better jobs.

hijacker
02-06-2007, 01:10 AM

Maybe next year it can be moved.

tommckay
02-06-2007, 11:48 AM
Wow. Ya know, it doesn't matter when you plan it, there will always be someone not happy because of when or where it is. It happens with every "event".

Bottom line here is that Z-Man planned it and put everything together for it, he planned it for those dates for what ever reason.

If you can come, come. If you can't you can always plan your own bashfest around your area in a time you think is good. Let every body know and those that can come, will. Just becuase this one is happening doesn't mean another one somewhere else couldn't. Why not have regional Bashes? MidWest, Northeast, Southeast, Central, etc. Etc. But I guarantee there will be some that will complain because you scheduled it the same time as this or too close to that so they can't come.

That's the way life is, sometimes you can go, sometimes you can't.

hey Ron, I don't know if I never noticed it or if you changed it or something, but I swear to god your user id was just z-man, not z-man280. Maybe it would be a bad idea for me to drive halfway across the country. :p

There are alot of activities. But I don't think we have to stick to a schedule, or do we? I figured we can just swarm that quiet little town and bash the crap out of it at our own discresion!!! lol

you must stick to my schedule!

HAHAHAHHAHAHHA! those who want to break away and do any exploring of the area are welcome to. I am currently waiting to hear back from several people, including a nice gravel pit for some extreme bashing to those who want to. Its all dependant of course on their say-so.

I will try to have it orginized as I can, there will be a few people here that will run each event, so it will be a bit less chaotic.

I must find a way to buy 5 midgets with DVR's to be placed in various locations to film this event....... Funny but I cant find a place that sells midgets ..... They say you can find " IT " on EBAY but i have yet to see that there ... ( yes i check back often ) ...
I dont wanna miss 1 second of this action .... :D

z-man280
03-01-2007, 04:59 PM
YES!

I am still mulling over location......

here's the dilema guys. Even tho i HOPE my shop is open in time, there is still another within 20 minutes.

Beign everyone is going to be in Harrison, my thoughts are to keep us somewhat "consolidated", without having a bunhc of things going on in different areas miles apart. So, with this, I am working at securing our local fairgrounds.

YUP! FAIRGROUNDS!!!!

Can you say TOTAL CARNAGE!? This would be great, as everything would then be within walking distance to everything else. I boguht a couple 2 way radios for Chad and Myself to have, as we wil lbe sperated more than not, so all you will need to do is find one of us, and we can relay back and forth on things.

As for the drift event.... The more guys with lights, the better!!!!! As time nears, those who want neons for their respective rides, i will have them either available by end of this month, or at event. They will run off a 9 Volt battery, or you can tap to your 7.2 pack. They will be offered at a discounted price to those who would like a set for the bash, and of course, to anyone who WONT be attending, but wants a cool set of neons, i will offer them as well.

I think the sheet of plywood should be bigger than 18" wide. Or is that part of the challenge? Maybe using two those black bike ramps next to each other (four in all) would work.

z-man280
03-01-2007, 05:39 PM
no no Tom, raised about 18 inches....4 ft wide, 4 ft long...EACH LANE!....EASY taget to hit @ 40mph + :D
