View Full Version : Why no mini radios

I've been playing with these toys for a long time and with all the mini cars coming out i can't believe nobody ever thought of a mini radio. One you could stash under the body of the car, maybe even use with 10th scale.

Are there any mini radios available?

i think it is because my hands aren't mini :)

Are you talking about mini receivers? There are receivers that are smaller than a quarter available.

Or are you talking about a radio that plays music?

I think he means a Tx which can be stored inside the car.

I was guessing for music.

That would be sweet.

You could even have a little 2" subwoofer. Doesn't sound impressive but at 1/10 scale... LOL.

I've seen a few Walmart R/Cs which come with MP3 players and simulated hydraulic action, completed with the gaudy disco lights. Hummer H2 no less.

Just a little radio that uses AAA's or a battery pack or something . Pistol radios are so big because they have to balance out with the battery on the bottom. But if there isn't a bulky battery, you could probably design a small comfortable one.

You must have little hands? If my radio was any smaller, there's no way my meathooks could operate the thing.

I think the idea sounds cool, but there is no way I could use a tiny transmitter.

Yeah sometimes ergonomics is the limiting factor in size, not the technology. Notice that there aren't any microscopic cellphones anymore like there used to be in the mid 90s when the smallest (Panasonic G50) was the coolest. People don't care much about size nowadays as long as it's the average candy bar or clam shell size.

I dont think its for lack of electronics being downsized, but function. A small controller would be neat in theory, but i think for actual function, it would be difficult.

Crack open a transmitter. There's hardly anything but air inside them.

Just throwing ideas out, maybe one that folds open or something. I'm no gorilla but im sure a radio could be made small but also very ergonomic. I do agree that the size and feel of modern radios is pretty much perfected, as far as giving you the best control.

They better throw in a Jumbo radio with my Baja 5T.
