View Full Version : Stampede Bearings

I have been thinking about getting a Stampede for a couple days now. I knwo that one of the first hop-ups are the RPM carries and 5X11 bearings. I seen the Duratrax Bearing kit for the Stampede. I think it about $20

INCLUDES: Eight: 5mm x 8mm bearings (2.5mm thick)
Six: 5mm x 11mm bearings (4mm thick)

Now I am guessing the 5X11 bearings are not for the wheels and the 5X8 are. So if I were to use the RPM carries and have bearings thoughout I would need (14) 5X11 bearings. Is this right. Also where do the (6) 5X11 bearings in the kit go on the truck. I am guessing in the Transmission. Thanks for all your help.

you are right, the tranny does take the 5x11 bearings, one other thing to consider to make it drive better are a couple of 5x8 for the steering system, instead of bushings. this will help you steer smoother and be easier on the servo.

The stampede comes with bearings in the tranny. If you get the rpm carriers, you just need eight 5x11 bearings. Get http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXD122&P=7 or http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXD125&P=7 The second link is stainless steel bearings.

Ya, just to summarize what others have said already:

6 5x11 bearings go in the transmission, but Traxxas has been including bearings in the transmission of Stampede kits for a long time now. The same with slipper clutches. So if your truck came with a slipper clutch, it likely already has bearings in the transmissions.

8 5x11 bearings will be needed to use the RPM bearing carrier upgrades. TowerHobbies has 10 regular Duratrax bearings for $13 or $16 for stainless steel.

Stampede does not use a bell-crack steering mechanism like the Rustler and Bandit, so there aren't any bushings to replace in the steering.
