Im looking to paint my lexan HPI body in a nice rich metallic burgundy or deep red color, however Im having a little trouble finding a paint that will give me that result.

Pactra RC64 Metallic Red & RC67 Met. Burgundy are the closest I can find, but the Red doesnt appear to be dark enough and the Burgundy seems to be too pink.

Would I be better off trying to mix my own paint from other colors? Can anyone recommend another brand that might make the color Im looking for?

    Thanks in advance,
    Morgan

    Burgundy..hmm...

Try candy red backed with black or charcoal (fascolor). Result:

Maybe give the body a light misting of silver or chrome beforehand for some better value changes.

wow, Spaz Stix has some awesome products, too bad their line is so limited.

It looks like Im gonna go with the Red Vino backed by their Mirror Chrome.

I painted a xxx-t the same way and it was beautiful. My only suguetion is to use the Alclad Chrome instead. It ends up looking better.

how well does mixing and matching brands work? I know in automotive paints its a big no-no, I was kinda assuming the same would be true for these paints as well.

the spaz stix and the alclad2 are both lacquer based paints

the spazstix chrome is more of a mirror type finish and reflects a lot of light
the alclad2 chrome isn't quite as brite but is still reflective
    if that makes any sence

I only use cans to paint and I've used pactra metallic red backed with black also try candy red backed with candy purple, then silver, then black.

practice how much of each on a scrap piece of lexan, candy color are nice and transparent so you can alter the color as you wish.

    What he said.

Here's the one that I did with the spaztix and alclad. I guess for lack of a better word, the alclad paint just makes the red vino pop more than the mirror chrome.

that definately does look nice, the only problem I can see so far is buying the stuff. Tower Hobbies doesnt carry it, all the sites that Alclad2 has linked on their website are worthless, and there is only 1 distributor in NJ and I dont think its even a hobby shop.

Your hobby shop can order it for you...Horizon Hobby distributes it.

Order the 4oz bottle if you plan on using it a lot.

Spaz Stiz Ano Red. My local hobby shop stocks it and they can order any color.

Also online many places, but sometimes shipping costs kill you.
