Does anyone have any of tamiya's big rigs?
I'm looking to buy either a Ford Aeromax or a King Hauler, but I don't know which one.
    Can anyone help me???

    Hi all,

I just got myself a Volvo FH12 about a month ago. Right now I'm painting the body and waiting for my ESC to come in. Can't wait to take this thing out. Anyone out there with one of those Tamiya tractor trailer trucks? I would like to hear anything about them...post pics of your truck...talk about add-on or mods you've done.

Since this is my first post (read newbie) I've decided to give a brief intro of myself. I was out of the hobby for the past 10 years...and decided to pick it up again recently. I've had my eyes on the Tamiya truck for a long time due to the detail and realism they have. I sold everything when I left the RC scene so now I'm starting from scratch. Right now I running the truck with:

Futaba 4VF TX with R127DF RX
    LRP F1 Super Reverse (waiting)
    Duratrax Sanyo 1700
    Duratrax IntelliPeak Charger

    Kits that I've had:

    Grasshopper
    Boomerang
    959 (I miss this one)
Turbo Optima (blast to drive but it's a FORD)

That's it for now. Want to hear some reply before I put you all to sleep.

Don't those trux have the 3 speed trannies? If those aren't geared for torque, those things with like 10 cells, a BL motor, mucho speed........

Yes....the ESC came in and I took it out for a spin. I'm surprise how fast it went in third gear....almost too much speed for the suspension to handle. But 1st gear is nice and easy...lots of torque and acceleration is instantaneous.

Now I can't wait to order the complete light kit and a trailer. But that'll be another $300 hole out of my pocket.

Post some pics of your big rig after you get and install the light kit and put the trailer on it.

Those are actually Wild Willy 2 wheels and tires, and all I had to do is a body lift!

Nice! Very nice....The animal guard looks best on the KH body. I just finished painting my Volvo body and I just mounted it to see how everything fits.

    chickenmobilin, that's interesting!

fyi guys, if you're planning to buy the Tractor Truck Sound Effects hop-up, the 3rd gear will be disabled and will be replaced with a function as horn.

also, if you also want to have the motorized support legs if you're planning to buy a trailer, it's better to buy them both at the same time. i had the semi-trailer first and the motorized support legs later and you know what, i had to remove all the wood laid out at the top of the semi-trailer to make way for the installation of the motorized support legs

this is the first message board i encountered which has a topic about tamiya trailers.

anyway, hope this helps. Tamiya has about 4 types of semis:

1.) semi-trailer (which is the container van)
2.) flatbed trailer (the one I have in the pictures)
3.) tank trailer (this is like those of the gasoline trucks)
4.) pole trailer (same as mine but with poles included)

    hop-ups available for semis:

    1.) semi-trailer light set
    2.) motorized support legs
